Rebecca Beers Named to Leadership UAB Class of 2012

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Jan. 10, 2012 – Rebecca A. Beers, an attorney with Haskell Slaughter Young & Rediker, LLC, has been named to the 2012 Class of Leadership UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham). Made up of young professionals offering their support to UAB, the group’s annual membership class consists of approximately 50 people between the ages of 25 and 40 selected to represent a cross-section of Birmingham’s community.  Leadership UAB seeks to select proven leaders in the community to learn about the university and meet other young professionals. ABOUT REBECCA BEERS

Rebecca Beers represents plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation matters.  She joined Haskell Slaughter in 2008 after serving as Law Clerk to Senior United States District Judge William M. Acker, Jr., Northern District of Alabama. Beers is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and Washington & Lee University School of Law. While at Birmingham-Southern, she was president of Omicron Delta Kappa and vice president of Mortar Board.  In law school, Beers served as Managing Events Editor of the Washington & Lee Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice and served on the Dean Search Interview Committee and as an Honor Advocate before the Student Judicial Council. She was also a member of the Virginia Capital Case Clearinghouse, a legal clinic providing research, writing and strategic support for criminal defense attorneys in capital murder cases. Beers is a member of the Rotaract Club of Birmingham, is a Junior Patron of the Birmingham Museum of Art and is Chair of the Birmingham-Southern College Young Alumni Advisory Council. She is also an active volunteer in the Birmingham's Homeless Experience Legal Protection (HELP) Program.
