BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - December 2, 2009 - R. Scott Williams, an attorney with Haskell Slaughter Young & Rediker, LLC, will serve as moderator of the continuing legal education session "Bankruptcy Litigation: Latest Issues and Defenses" at the American Bankruptcy Institute's 21st Annual Winter Leadership Conference, to be held December 3 - 5 in La Quinta, California.

ABOUT SCOTT WILLIAMS
Scott Williams concentrates his practice in bankruptcy, reorganization and creditors' rights and related commercial litigation. He has represented debtors and creditors in a variety of complex bankruptcy cases, and also has extensive experience representing parties in complex commercial litigation. Mr. Williams served for several years as counsel to U.S. Senator Howell T. Heflin, and in that capacity played a significant role in drafting the United States Bankruptcy Code Amendments enacted in 1995. Mr. Williams is active in the bankruptcy bar on the local and national levels and serves as a contributing editor to Collier on Bankruptcy, a leading bankruptcy law treatise. In 2007, Mr. Williams became the first practicing lawyer from Alabama to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Bankruptcy Institute.
