HASKELL SLAUGHTER'S McENIRY APPOINTED TO
ABA HEALTH LAW SECTION ROLES

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - July 21, 2009 - John H. McEniry, IV, an attorney with Haskell Slaughter Young & Rediker, LLC, has been appointed to a second term as Vice Chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Health Law Section's Healthcare Litigation and Risk Management Interest Group.  The Interest Group examines areas in healthcare-related litigation and the continuum of liability control, including antitrust, staff privileges issues and peer review proceedings, credentialing and medical staff development planning, risk management and alternative dispute resolution.

In addition, Mr. McEniry has been appointed to the Section's Teleconference Executive Committee.  The Teleconference Executive Committee is responsible for planning and coordinating the Section's comprehensive agenda of continuing legal education teleconferences throughout the year.

Jay McEniry represents clients in a variety of insurance matters, including property and casualty defense, insurance coverage matters, and the defense of fraud, bad faith and other punitive damage claims. He also has extensive experience defending clients in medical malpractice and nursing home litigation, as well as products liability and warranty actions.  A native of Bessemer, Alabama, Mr. McEniry currently serves as Vice Chair of the Healthcare Litigation and Risk Management Interest Group of the American Bar Association's Health Law Section.  In addition, he is active in alumni affairs and student recruitment for Vanderbilt University and serves as a member of the Birmingham Bar Association's Medical Liaison Committee.
