HASKELL SLAUGHTER'S MCENIRY AND THOMPSON CONTRIBUTE TO PRO BONO HEALTH COVERAGE PROJECT

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - March 10, 2009 - John H. McEniry, IV and Maridi L. Thompson, attorneys with Haskell Slaughter Young & Rediker, LLC, co-authored "Coverage Options:  Pay or Play Plans", part of the Report on Alabama's Underinsured and Major Coverage Options published by the Alabama Appleseed Health Insurance Project.  The report was a pro bono project for Alabama Appleseed in which Haskell Slaughter and five other major Alabama law firms participated.

In addition, Ms. Thompson served as a panelist at the Health Care Access Conference held on February 10 by the Arise Citizen's Policy Project, Alabama Appleseed and the Birmingham-Southern College Chapter of Alabama Arise.  Ms. Thompson spoke on "Pay or Play Legislation" at the conference panel entitled "How Can More Adults Get Health Coverage".

Haskell Slaughter is proud to contribute its resources to these important pro bono projects.

ABOUT JOHN H. McENIRY, IV

Jay McEniry represents clients in a variety of insurance matters, including property and casualty defense, insurance coverage matters, and the defense of fraud, bad faith and other punitive damage claims. He also has extensive experience defending clients in medical malpractice and nursing home litigation, as well as products liability and warranty actions.  A native of Bessemer, Alabama, Mr. McEniry currently serves as Vice Chair of the Healthcare Litigation and Risk Management Interest Group of the American Bar Association's Health Law Section.  In addition, he is active in alumni affairs and student recruitment for Vanderbilt University and serves as a member of the Birmingham Bar Association's Medical Liaison Committee.

ABOUT MARIDI L. THOMPSON

Maridi Thompson represents clients in a variety of civil litigation matters.  She joined Haskell Slaughter after graduation from the University of Alabama School of Law, where she was a member of the Law and Psychology Review, the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board, the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Team, and the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society. A native of Tuscaloosa, Ms. Thompson is active in the University of Alabama Alumni Association and the Junior Patrons of the Birmingham Museum of Art.
