Ben Spratling is a veteran public finance lawyer who has served as bond counsel, underwriter's counsel and issuer's counsel for bond financings throughout the state of Alabama. His practice has focused on industrial development, infrastructure, utility and education financings, with longtime service as counsel to the Birmingham Industrial Development Board. He was a founding partner of the Birmingham firm McMillan & Spratling, which merged with Haskell Slaughter in 1986. Mr. Spratling is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Public Finance Law.

Mr. Spratling has been active in bar association service at the state and local levels. In addition, he has served as president of the Alabama Genealogical Society, as a director of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, and as a nonvoting member of the Alabama House of Representatives.
